Meet April
For April, re-entry is more than a service—it is personal.
As a Peer Navigator at Project Kinship, April walks alongside participants who are often released from incarceration unsure of where to begin. She helps them navigate the practical and emotional challenges of rebuilding their lives, connecting them to resources, opportunities, and support while reminding them that they do not have to walk this journey alone.
April knows what it feels like to search for a way forward and wonder if anyone is listening. For a long time, she felt unheard as she navigated the challenges of re-entry herself. Today, she uses that experience to make sure others feel seen, heard, and valued.
She takes pride in being part of a team that leads with compassion, honors lived experience, and uplifts voices that too often go unheard. Every day, April demonstrates what is possible when someone is met with understanding instead of judgment, opportunity instead of barriers, and community instead of isolation.
Her story is a powerful reminder: second chances can change lives, and no one should have to navigate the road to a better future alone.
